is looking to hire a Service Writer/Assistant Service Manager who has a solid mechanical/technical background and specializing in combustion engines and power related equipment and can accurately quote repair and service proposals.
As the Assistant Service Manager/Service Writer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our service operations.
You will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling repairs and maintenance of commercial power generation equipment.
This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle customer inquiries in a professional manner.
Respond to incoming service-related calls and assisting as needed.
Prepare quotations for service projects, including emergency calls, scheduled service calls, and other repair projects, and follow up on a weekly basis.
You will also need to collaborate closely with the parts department to ensure availability of required parts for technicians' service jobs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & QUALIFICATIONS Help lead, motivate, and manage a core team of generator service technicians and support staff.
Direct and assist technicians with service/repair related issues and procedures to help build and sustain healthy levels of productivity, efficiency, and profitability.
Receive quote requests from Technician reports or directly from customers.
Follow-up if necessary for additional information.
Research parts/labor required for repair and associated pricing and, if necessary, review with technician or customer.
Create all quotes in Servman, send to customer, keep customer information in Servman up to date.
Monitor backlog of quote requests and follow up on quoted jobs.
Alert Parts Coordinator to open job, order parts, and update Servman when signed quote returned.
Some form of post-secondary education preferred high school diploma or equivalent required.
Proven experience as a generator tech, service writer and service supervisor/manager a big plus.
Highly computer literate with general proficiency in productivity, service software(Servman/Workwave preferred), and parts lookup.
Knowledge of electronic and mechanical components associated with generators, ATS and diesel engines, as well as familiarity with maintenance and repairs.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Ability to pass a drug test.
Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with other technicians, management, and customers.
